Dear Whole Foods….
I think it is great that you credit me 5 cents every time I use my own bag for groceries. I also think it is awesome that you have bulk food like grain, nuts, honey and olive oils.
I think it would be even better if I could combine the two cool features above and be able to bring in my own containers for bulk food.
Follow along with me here. I like your honey, and you offer plastic bottles for me to put it into in order to take it home. First, seeing plastic bottles at whole foods just makes my brain question whether the neurons are firing in the right direction. I’d really like to put that in glass jars, but asking whole foods to supply me with free glass jars is silly.
So what I would like to do is bring in my own containers. I stop by the service desk on the way in (weigh in, get it?) and you record the tare weight of my containers. Then I put whatever I want into them, take them to the check out, and you deduct the tare weight from my purchase.
This is awesome because I know I’ll never get that last little bit of honey out of my jar, and I can fill up my own container without wasting a plastic transport container.
Take this a step further, and I could bring in my own microwave safe containers for your cold food in the deli area that I can later just pop into the microwave.
So there you go whole foods, that’s my idea for you. If you do use my idea, all I’d ask is… well, I don’t ask anything. I’d just be happy if you used it.
Cheers, and keep up the good work.
